What you’ll take away

After this workshop you’ll be able to…

Bleeding & Filling

Shimano mineral oil or SRAM/Magura DOT – you learn the correct procedure for your brake system and carry it out yourself.

Cleaning the pistons

Remove the pistons, check them for wear, clean them and refit them correctly – so your brake stays precise and long-lasting.

✂️

Shortening the brake hose

If the hose is too long: you learn how to cut it cleanly to length and set a new olive connector.

How it works

Your workshop in detail

  1. Meet-up & brake check
Which system? What’s the problem? Together we look at your lever feel and pad wear.
  2. Theory: how hydraulic brakes work
Master cylinder, hoses, pistons, fluid – short and easy to follow. You’ll understand why air in the system is a problem.
  3. Bleeding your own bike
You carry out the bleeding procedure yourself – with our support, step by step, until the lever feel is perfect.
  4. Brake pads & wrap-up
Check the pads and replace them if needed. When do I need to bleed next time? You’ll know.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which brakes are covered in the workshop?

Shimano (mineral oil), SRAM and Magura (both DOT fluid). Please state your system when registering so we can provide the right materials.

How often do I need to bleed a hydraulic brake?

With Shimano rarely – mineral oil is stable. SRAM and Magura (DOT) absorb water more easily and should be bled every 1–2 years, more often with heavy riding.

What if my lever feel was already poor before the workshop?

That’s exactly the reason for this workshop. We help you fix the problem – whether it’s air in the system, worn pads or a dirty piston.

Can I bleed everything myself after the workshop?

Yes – that’s the goal. After the workshop you’ll know the procedure and can repeat it at home yourself with a simple bleed kit.
