Mountain Biking in the Stubai Valley — Trails, Location and Conditions
The Stubai Valley lies just 15 minutes from Innsbruck and is one of Tyrol’s most versatile riding areas: 240 km of marked MTB trails, around 13,000 vertical metres of trail reserve, and in the Schlick 2000 Bike Park a lift-served area of its own at the foot of the Kalkkögel. If you want that Tyrolean riding character without the long drive, this is the place.
Riding Areas at a Glance
- Schlick 2000 Bike Park: a lift-served area at the foot of the Kalkkögel — trails from the mountain down into the valley via the Kreuzjochbahn, suited to families and advanced riders
- Stubai trail network: 240 km of MTB routes, approx. 13,000 vertical metres of trail reserve — all trails marked according to the MTB Tyrol model
- Location: Innsbruck in 15 minutes — easily combined with Inn Valley trails or the Patscherkofel
- 2026 season: the Kreuzjochbahn reopens from 4 June 2026
What Suits You?
- Trail and flow fans: the Schlick 2000 Bike Park combines lift convenience with alpine trails — great for skills days with plenty of repetitions
- E-bike leisure riders: the Stubai has a well-maintained network of forest and alpine pasture tracks — moderate e-bike tours to alpine huts such as the Issenangeralm or Bsuchalm with a classic Tyrolean hut stop
- Beginners and families: the family-friendly trails at Schlick 2000 and the quiet valley paths in the upper Stubai Valley make this one of the easiest places to start out in Tyrol
With Innsbruck and the Wipptal right next door, we can flexibly switch our riding days — when the weather closes in over the Stubai Valley, the Inn Valley is often still dry.

Frequently Asked Questions about Biking in the Stubai Valley
Which trails are right for beginners in the Stubai Valley?
Forest tracks into the Stubai Valley, the relaxed scenic path along the Ruetz, and e-bike tours up to the alpine pastures (Issenanger Alm, Pinnisalm). For a first taste of the bike park, the blue line at Schlick 2000 is ideal.
What multi-day tours does the Stubai Valley offer?
The classic: the Stubai High Trail with an MTB variant (3-4 days, overnight stays in huts). Shorter: the Bremer Hütte or Innsbrucker Hütte as a day’s destination. We plan the route and hut reservations on request.
How do I get to the Stubai Valley without a car?
Take the Stubaitalbahn (S3) from Innsbruck main station to Fulpmes in 20 minutes, then another 20 minutes by bus to Mutterberg. Bikes can be carried on local transport without a reservation. Pick-up from the station on request.
Which bike do I need for tours in the Stubai Valley?
A hardtail is enough for day tours. For the Schlick 2000 bike park or demanding trails we recommend a full-suspension bike. An e-MTB is ideal for tours with lots of climbing. Rental bikes (MTB, e-MTB) on request.
