Mountain Biking in Paznaun & Ischgl — Trails, Location and Conditions
Paznaun is far more than just the Ischgl ski region: 162.6 km of marked bike routes, including 100 km of cross-border trails into Swiss Samnaun, make the region one of the largest mountain-bike arenas in the Alps. Altitudes between 1,400 and 2,850 metres bring an alpine character and panoramic views — and the connected lift network saves endless climbs to the high-alpine lines.
The Areas at a Glance
- Silvretta Bike Arena Ischgl/Samnaun: 11 trails totalling 88.8 km across all difficulty levels (blue/red/black). Highlights: the Vesil Trail (16.3 km, 1,330 m of descent) and the Fimba Trail (12.8 km) — both red-graded S2–S3
- Lift network: the Silvrettabahn (A1) and Flimjochbahn (B2) carry e-bikes and MTBs. The standard season runs from late June to early October
- Gravity Card: one ticket for over 30 bike destinations in seven countries — Paznaun is part of the network
- High-alpine tours: Smugglers' Trail (cross-border), Kronenjoch Epic, routes to the Friedrichshafener Hütte and Heidelberger Hütte
Which Suits You?
- Trail and flow fans: the red Vesil and Fimba trail network offers S2–S3 character over 1,000+ vertical metres of descent — lift-assisted, so no endless climb
- E-bike leisure riders: classic e-bike tours to the mountain huts (Friedrichshafener, Heidelberger, Jamtal) — moderate climbs with huge panoramic rewards. The lifts carry e-bikes, making high-alpine tours possible without hours of climbing
- Beginners and families: blue trails in the Silvretta Arena as a gentle introduction to alpine mountain biking — with lift access you experience high-alpine terrain without a fitness ordeal
If the weather closes in over Paznaun, the trail areas at the Reschenpass and in the Oberinntal are reachable within 30–45 minutes — we switch flexibly.
