Mountain Biking in Kappl — Trails, Location and Conditions
Kappl lies in the Paznaun Valley between Landeck and Ischgl — a quiet biking area with a link to the large Silvretta Bike Arena while keeping its own touring character. The Diasbach area is one of the most popular MTB starting points, with well-signposted trails through the alpine landscape. If you want the Paznaun without the Ischgl crowds, Kappl is the place.
Riding areas at a glance
- Diasbach area: a popular MTB starting point with signposted trails through the alpine landscape
- Silvretta Bike Arena link: the arena’s 88.8 km (Vesil, Fimba and the cross-border trail to Samnaun) are reachable from Kappl by lift
- Paznaun valley routes: classic touring routes through the Paznaun Valley up to Galtür — moderate gradients
What suits you?
- Trail and flow fans: via the lift link to the Silvretta Bike Arena you get access to the red enduro trails Vesil and Fimba — Kappl is the quieter base for them compared to Ischgl
- Leisure e-bikers: the Paznaun Valley around Kappl is one of the most relaxed e-bike areas in Tyrol — moderate climbs, plenty of working mountain huts and day rides towards Galtür
- Beginners and families: the quieter valley setting and the Diasbach trails are more family-friendly than the in-town trails in Ischgl — great coaching conditions for beginners
With Ischgl, Galtür and the link to the Reschen Pass right next door, the coaching stays flexible — if the weather closes in on the Kappl slopes, the high-alpine trails are 15–30 minutes away.
