Mountain Biking in Kufstein — Trails, Location and Conditions
Kufstein sits on the Tyrolean Inn — between the Kaisergebirge to the south and the Brandenberg Alps to the north. The location is ideal for coaching days, with a choice between alpine trails (Wilder Kaiser, Kaisergebirge) and gentler Inn valley routes. Kufstein itself is the town with the famous fortress — the riding character is found all around it.
Riding areas at a glance
- Wilder Kaiser connection: the trails around Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going are right on the doorstep — 350+ km of trail network, lift transport for bikes usually free
- Brandenberg Alps: on the north side of the Inn — a quieter touring area with classic alpine-pasture routes
- Inn valley routes: the Inn cycle path and connecting trails towards Bavaria and into the lower Inn valley
What suits you?
- Trail and flow fans: plenty of red and black single trails available via the Wilder Kaiser connection — Kufstein is the more relaxed base for alpine coaching days in the region
- E-bike leisure riders: the Brandenberg Alps are one of the most underrated e-bike areas — moderate climbs, classic mountain huts and hardly any traffic compared to the big tourist hotspots
- Beginners and families: the Inn cycle path and the family-friendly Wilder Kaiser lifts are good starting points for your first days on the bike
With the Wilder Kaiser, the Brandenberg Alps and the Inn valley towards Innsbruck, the coaching stays extremely flexible — if the weather closes in on the Kaiser, we head towards Brandenberg or the Inn valley.
